Scissors & Clippers

Scissors & clippers for barbershops: stainless steel scissors and professional clippers, corded or cordless, for precise cuts and clean beard outlines.

How do you choose scissors or a clipper for the barbershop?

To choose hairdressing scissors well, favour a stainless steel model. This material gives a lasting edge and resists rust. Check that the handle is ergonomic to avoid fatigue during long cutting sessions.

Scissors need good sharpening, as well-sharpened blades give a clean, precise cut, essential for a professional result. For a professional clipper, first look at the motor power. A powerful motor cuts all types of hair easily, whether fine or thick.

Choose a clipper with a system of replaceable blades, which makes upkeep easier. Adjustable combs let you vary the cutting lengths, ideal for working on the beard and the coat precisely. If you prefer mobility, a cordless clipper with good battery life is very practical in a busy salon.

Do not forget to think about upkeep: lubricate the blades regularly to keep them working at their best and avoid overheating. The noise level can also affect your working comfort, especially in a calm space. Choosing the right scissors & clippers makes your movements easier and improves the quality of every cut.

What is the difference between a corded and a cordless clipper for barbers?

A corded clipper is permanently connected to a power socket, which ensures constant motor power throughout the cut. It is ideal when you want to avoid interruptions for recharging. This stable energy supply also sometimes gives a lower noise level than some cordless models.

On the other hand, its cable can get in the way of your movements and limit your freedom, especially for precise cuts or difficult angles. The cordless clipper runs on a battery that has to be recharged. Its greatest quality is freedom of movement.

It lets you move easily around the client without restriction. However, you need to look closely at the battery life so as not to be interrupted in the middle of work. Some modern batteries offer several hours of continuous use.

For both types, the ergonomic handle remains essential for good comfort, while the cordless one, being lighter, tires the hand a little less. Also choose a clipper with compatible cutting guides, to vary the lengths easily on beard and hair. Finally, think about upkeep: whether corded or cordless, regular lubrication avoids a loss of blade efficiency.

How do you look after your barbershop scissors and clippers?

Regular upkeep of your scissors and clippers stops them wearing out too fast or pulling on the hair. We advise always wiping the cutting tools with a soft cloth after each use, to remove the hair or beard residue caught in the blades. To keep your hairdressing scissors working well, open them fully and run a dry cloth between the two blades, never forcing them closed during cleaning.

Once a week, a few drops of special oil on the pivot of the scissors keep them smooth to use. On clippers, blade lubrication is done every two or three uses: put a drop on the blade while running the clipper for a few seconds, and the oil spreads by itself wherever it is needed. The blades must stay immaculate, especially on a beard clipper or a pet grooming machine.

For good hygiene, we also recommend cleaning the tools with a suitable spray, in particular after every client. Never use corrosive products that could attack the ceramic, the titanium or any other specific coating, as this damages the materials. If the cut becomes less clean, do not change your replaceable blades straight away: first check whether it is simply a lack of cleaning.

Some models even let you take the head completely apart to reach hidden corners: take advantage of this to remove all the small hairs caught inside. Always store the scissors and clipper in a protective pouch to avoid knocks, especially if you use stainless steel. A dedicated spot in your workspace also protects them from dust and moisture.
