Wig Tapes & Adhesives

Difference between wig tape and liquid glue

Wig tape offers a quick, clean lace front hold. It is cut into strips that you place directly on your scalp or your wig. This tape is invisible on the skin, which gives a natural finish without visible marks.

It copes well with humidity, perfect for a long-lasting hold even in hot weather or during exertion. Its big advantage is its ease of application, ideal if you want to fix your wig quickly without waiting for it to dry. Wig glue, whether water-based or alcohol-based, creates a very strong bond that often lasts longer than tape.

It gives a perfect lace seal, especially when you want to keep your wig on for several days. Some glues are made for sensitive skin, with medical-grade silicone or an acrylic adhesive designed to minimise irritation, as described by their brands. Application is more technical and takes a little time, yet it gives a robust fixing even in humid conditions.

To remove these adhesives, the tape peels off gently, whereas the glue may need a special product for an easy removal and proper care and cleaning. Choosing between tape and glue depends mostly on how long you wear it and on your personal comfort.

How do you apply wig tape correctly?

Start by cleaning your skin with a gentle product to remove any trace of grease or dirt; this ensures compatibility with the scalp and stops the double-sided adhesive tape from peeling off too quickly. Then cut the tape into strips suited to the size of your wig, neither too long nor too short. First apply the tape to your skin along your forehead line, close to the front fixing patch.

Then remove the protective film from the tape to expose the adhesive. Position the wig slowly, pressing firmly at each contact point, which ensures an effective lace seal and avoids air bubbles. To strengthen the hold, you can also use a thin adhesive foam on the base of the wig where contact is critical.

Avoid stretching the tape too hard, so as not to strain your sensitive skin. Applying in strips lets you remove or reposition your wig easily, which makes its care and cleaning easier. If you want a fixing that lasts several hours, take into account the quality of the tape and the condition of your skin before application.

How long does wig tape last?

The long-lasting hold of a wig tape depends a lot on the type of tape chosen and on how it is used. Some adhesives can keep your wig in place without moving for up to 5 to 7 days, especially if you avoid wetting the area. Other, more discreet models, or ones suited to sensitive skin, may hold for only one to two days, which is ideal if you want to take your wig off often.

Our selection includes very thin patches that stay invisible on the skin and cannot be seen even under a tulle wig. However, simple things such as sweating a lot or washing your head can reduce the grip time. That is why we offer wig accessories that improve the humidity resistance of the tape.

For people with very sensitive skin, we have chosen products made from materials that their brands describe as skin-friendly. Depending on your preferences, you can choose a tape for one-off use, or opt for a model designed to hold for several days if you do not want to take your wig off each evening. We help you select the right wig adhesive for your lifestyle and the wearing time you want.

If you are looking for even more security and a fixing for several weeks, there are complementary solutions in our range of wig glues, perfect for anyone who wants an ultra-strong fixing.
