What is a hair frontal and what is it used for?

A hair frontal is a very fine lace base placed at the front of the head. It is used to create a natural hairline, as if your hair were really growing in that spot. The lace used can be Swiss lace or HD lace, which makes it almost invisible on the skin.

This invisibility gives a very natural finish, perfect for hiding a hair system or thickening your hair. The lace frontal is often pre-plucked, meaning the hairs are set so as to imitate a fine hairline, with even baby hair. These little hairs at the front give an even more realistic effect.

Bleached knots on the base also make the frontal hard to spot. You can choose the hair density and the texture of the hair, whether straight, wavy or curly, as well as the length that suits you. Fitting is often done by sewn fitting or glued fitting, so that your frontal stays firmly attached all day.

Finally, a quality frontal can handle colouring and bleaching and heat resistance, which lets you change style without a problem. With a little care and washing, it keeps well. It is a great choice for a perfect, natural-looking head of hair.

What is the difference between a frontal and a closure?

A hair frontal covers the full width of the forehead, from ear to ear, for a natural effect along the whole hairline. The closure is smaller, often square or round, and sits on just one part of the top of the head. The frontal has a wider lace base, which makes it possible to create baby hair in several areas, while the closure offers a less extensive and simpler line.

The frontal can offer denser hand-tied ventilation, which gives better hair density and a more natural look, whereas the closure is sometimes less full. The frontal is often fitted with an elastic band or an adhesive fixing for a hold across the whole head. The closure is often fixed at a precise point, generally sewn or glued on a small area.

Both products use quality hair such as Remy hair or virgin hair; the frontal offers more choice of lengths and textures, notably straight or curly. The frontal is ideal if you want to cover a wide area and have a realistic appearance across the whole forehead. The closure suits a simple, quick-to-fit style better.

How do you glue and care for a frontal for a natural result?

The first step for a truly natural result is to align your frontal perfectly with your own hair root. For a discreet hold, we advise applying a thin layer of transparent adhesive fixing, specially formulated for lace bases. After placing your frontal, press gently from the centre towards the temples to avoid creases.

Use soft clips to hold the position for a few minutes, without risking damage to the HD lace. To care for your frontal without damaging it, always wash it in lukewarm water with a mild shampoo. Massage gently so as not to detach the implanted hairs.

Take the opportunity to check the cleanliness of the baby hair, which gives a very natural finish at the root. If you choose hand-tied ventilation, you benefit from better airflow to the scalp, which avoids overheating and keeps your hair pleasant to wear all day. You can dry your hair gently in the open air or use a hairdryer on a cool setting, because heat that is too strong damages the structure of your frontal.

By using a protective treatment, you look after the available lengths, as well as the shine of the colours when you change style. Brush your frontal from the ends towards the root to limit breakage, especially with wavy or curly textures. Regular care keeps your frontal looking impeccable, even after several weeks of wear.
