Men's Hair and Beard Colour: Just For Men for beard, moustache and hair, in gel or colouring shampoo. Hide white hairs in minutes, at home.
A men’s hair and beard colour is a colour designed for thick facial hair and for short hair. It goes on in a few minutes, much faster than a standard colour. Its purpose is most often to hide white hairs in the beard, moustache or temples.
Beard hairs are coarser than head hair, and the skin of the face is thinner than that of the scalp. A dedicated formula, as a thick gel, clings better to the hairs and runs less onto the skin. It also lets you colour only the moustache or the chin.
You can cover all the white hairs, or only some of them to keep a salt-and-pepper effect. This softer result looks more natural, as a beard of one uniform colour is more noticeable. It suits men who are colouring their beard for the first time.
The reference brand is the American Just For Men, with two ranges: one for the beard and moustache, the other for hair. Both are used at home, in the bathroom, without going to the barber. If you prefer the big cream colour ranges, especially for medium-length hair, see our permanent colour range.
Choose a shade a little lighter than your original colour. A beard that is too dark hardens the features and is noticed straight away. If you are hesitating between two shades, take the lighter one: you can go darker at the next application.
Just For Men offers its shades from blonde to black, via several chestnuts and browns. The beard kit contains a colouring gel, an activator, a small mixing tray and an applicator brush. This brush places the colour right down to the root of short hairs. For hair, the range comes as a colouring shampoo. It is massaged into the head like an ordinary shampoo, then rinsed. It suits grey temples and short hair, which are coloured evenly.
Take your hair into account at the same time as your beard. If the beard is redder or darker than the hair, colour each area with its own shade rather than a single tint. Eyebrows and eyelashes must never be coloured with these products: the eye area is too sensitive.
Fancy an original tint, red or blue, for an occasion? The fantasy colour range offers bright semi-permanent colours.
Do an allergy test 48 hours before each application, even if you have used the brand for years. An allergy can appear at any time. Place a little product behind the ear and do not colour if there is any redness or itching.
Apply to a clean, dry beard, following the instructions for the development time. Protect the outline of the beard with a little petroleum jelly to avoid marks on the skin. If in doubt, rinse earlier: a colour that is too light can be redone, a colour that is too dark shows.
The colour lasts until the hairs grow back. Allow a touch-up every three to four weeks, depending on how fast your beard grows. Between two applications, a beard oil keeps the hairs soft and the colour shiny.
In the days after application, wash the beard with a mild shampoo and avoid harsh soaps, which dull the colour. If a mark remains on the skin, a cotton pad soaked in soapy water softens it, and it goes in a few washes. Colours for women, bright shades and all colouring care products can be found in our hair colour range.
