Caps

Caps: ponytail cap, bun cap, baseball cap or tweed flat cap. Open-back models let your ponytail or bun through without flattening your hairstyle.

Which cap should you choose for a ponytail or a bun?

A classic cap has a closed back. Your ponytail then has to go through the little hole above the fastening, or stay below it. The ponytail cap solves this problem. Its open back lets hair tied up high come out without being squashed. The weight of the ponytail no longer pulls on the back of the cap, which stays nice and straight.

We offer several versions. The perforated ponytail cap has small holes that let the air through during sport. The one with an embroidered heart adds a pretty detail on the front. The chic open-back cap is worn in town, with a smarter outfit. These models often have an adjustable fastening under the opening, to fit every head.

If you prefer a bun, the embroidered bun cap has an opening designed for it. You keep your high bun all day, even in full sun. It is handy after the gym, when you want to keep your hair off your neck.

Caps without an opening suit loose hair or a low braid better. Our washed-out sports cap and the cap with frayed stars have a worn look, like a cap worn for years. Washed cotton is soft from day one and quickly takes the shape of your head.

What is the difference between a baseball cap and a flat cap?

The baseball cap has a long, curved peak. Its crown is tall and most often made of six sewn panels. It is adjusted at the back by a fastening. It is the cap for sport, walks and sunny days. Its curved peak shades your eyes and the top of your cheeks.

The flat cap has a flatter, wider crown that falls slightly over a short peak. Eight-panel models, like our unisex octagonal cap, often have a small button in the centre of the top. It has a retro, slightly chic air. Its wide crown leaves room for hair tied low or curls.

The flat cap is made for autumn and winter. We have it in tweed-effect, check or faux fur. It goes very well with a long coat, a wool jacket or a chunky jumper. It is worn straight or slightly tilted to the side.

The baseball cap is sportier and simpler to match. Some of our models can be personalised, for example with a logo. It is an original gift idea for a club, a team or a birthday.

How do you adjust, wear and wash a cap?

A well-adjusted cap stays on without squeezing. Adjust the rear fastening so that you can slip a finger between your forehead and the inner band. Too tight, and it soon becomes uncomfortable. Too loose, and it flies off at the first gust of wind.

Wear the peak straight at the front to shade your eyes. Turned to the back, it leaves your face clear, though it no longer gives shade. With a fringe, tuck it under the peak or let it stick out at the sides. For sport, a curved peak shades the sides more than a flat peak.

Curly hair keeps its volume better under a tall crown, which does not squash it. For long, straight hair, a low ponytail passed under the fastening remains the simplest solution. A flat cap, roomier, suits thick hair very well.

Most cotton caps can be hand-washed, in lukewarm water with a mild soap. A soft toothbrush removes marks on the peak. Leave the cap to air-dry, resting on an upturned bowl, so that it keeps its shape. Avoid the machine for tweed or faux fur models. Never put a cap in the tumble dryer: the peak can twist.

In midsummer, the bucket hat shades the whole head, not just the front. For sport, add a hair headband that keeps stray strands off your face. All our other models are gathered in the hats and caps section.
